DOORBELL
DINNERS: Centenary church members
are scheduled to deliver Doorbell dinners the week of July 6th
– 10th. We are in search of drivers and delivery people.
Someone will be in the Narthex on June 28 during both services, you will
have an opportunity to sign up. Or, you can call Pat Baptist or Wanda
Sorrill any time. |
Camp
Care-A-Lot: Sunday July 12 at noon,
lunch at 1st Presbyterian Church. We need to be set up &
ready to serve at 12:00 noon. We will make sandwiches and wash fruit
between 9:30-10:30 a.m. Help is needed to transport, set up and stay to
serve the 70 people. Contact Cathy Menge. |
Available
Soon! A CD of piano music on Centenary’s grand piano
will soon be available for purchase. The CD, entitled “The Healing
Path: Music to Renew the Body, Mind, and Spirit” will be performed by
Terri Benz. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Avon Breast
Cancer Walk. The CD will include classical music and piano arrangements
of some of the greatest Christian music ever written. Cost of the CD is
$25 and may be ordered in the church office or by email:

Vacation
Bible School - Volunteers are needed to
prepare for and help with Vacation Bible School from August 3rd
to 7th. There will be sign up sheets for participants and
volunteers in the Narthex during July. Help is still needed in the
following areas: group chaperones, registration, set-up assistance,
tear down assistance, Sunday potluck. Please contact the church office or Rusti
Cummings.
Supplies are also needed: brown paper grocery sacks, cardboard toilet
paper rolls, newspapers, old golf balls, old white flat sheets (any
size), green strawberry plastic containers, wrapping paper in children’s
print, tissue paper in white, red, yellow, orange, brown (lots needed of
each color), green powder laundry soap scoops, aluminum mini pop-pie
tins. There will be a basket in the Narthex for these donations.

PACK
THE HOUSE AT LEO’S
Thursday, July 9 is Pack the House at Leo’s Pizza. Come to dine in
or take out. Be certain to tell them you are from Centenary so we
receive a percentage of the sales. |
Centenary United Methodist Women's Spring Salad Luncheon
The Centenary United Methodist Women's Spring Salad Luncheon was held on
Wednesday, April 1st. Follow this link to view pictures of this wonderful
opportunity for fellowship with Centenary members and others from the
Jacksonville community and surrounding areas.

conveniently located three blocks east of
Jacksonville's downtown Central Park
Plaza, two
blocks from MacMurray College and has plenty of off-street parking.
Our Sanctuary
and Educational Building are entirely accessible (via our
commercial elevator).
At
this site, you will learn about Centenary, its wide array of program offerings and the many
people who
make up this loving church family!

Centenary
is a part of the
LaMoine
River District of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the
United
Methodist Church. This district is formed of the eighty-eight congregations in
the area
bordered by
the Mississippi River on the west and Route 136 on the north. The eastern
boundary
is mainly along route 67 (but also includes other communities such as
Rushville and Carlinville) and Jerseyville to the south. This western curve of
the state has a rich tradition of Methodism with
heritage that includes
spiritual leaders like pioneer circuit rider Peter Cartwright and Peter Akers.
